Summary & Welcome 2017

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the new friends who have joined our Corearte family in 2016.
Their enthusiasm, energy and delight have given us that extra boost for the start of a year in which we are already planning lots of exciting projects in many different locations.
2016 began with a thrilling new project for us; our very first International Corearte Senior Festival in Tenerife (Canary Islands) where we shared a fantastic week with our new friends from Iceland, France, Uruguay and Spain. The majestic Teide welcomed us and saw us take the very best of adult choral song to various and varied venues in La Laguna, Los Silos and Puerto de la Cruz.
Amarilis Pagan Vila and José Hijar Polo held the workshops, and the concerts, which were all played to a full house, were spectacular.
Thank you to our friends from Reyes Bartlet adult choir (SP), the Bilu vocal group (UY),   Leonístico de la Costa de Oro choir (UY) and  the  Gamlir Fostbraedur male choir (IS)
The last week of June in Barcelona saw us welcome our younger singers for the third edition of our Corearte Junior Festival. With their fresh young voices, bubbling personalities and insatiable thirst for knowledge they absorbed everything we had prepared for them.

Sanna Valvanne and Oriol Castanyer directed the children's workshops and we were all able to fully appreciate the final result of their hard work at the gala concert held at the Monastary of Santa María de la Valldonzella .
Tantak Korala  from the Basque Country,  and the Orfeo Infantil de Valencia (OVI)  together with the children from Barcelona and Sant Cugat united for a week of song, music and fun.  It was an intense week with rehearsals in the morning, and afternoons spent at the pool, in the parks, on the beaches and in the city.

October finally arrived, which could only mean one thing; the 10th edition of our most emblematic Festival, Corearte Barcelona.
The best venues in the city opened their doors to welcome our friends: Niños Cantores de la Araucanía (CL), Coro Fundación Franco-Argentina “Jean Mermoz”  (AR), Coro de la Universidad de Guanajuato (MX), Coral Allegro  (SP), Cantores  de San Juan Macías (PE), Coro Libertatem  (MX),  Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió (SP), Cantoría – Coro de Concierto Universidad de Puerto Rico (PR), Coral Gioviale (CO), Coral Cantiga (SP), Coral Sinera (SP).

Josep Prats, María Guinand and David Azurza were in charge of the workshops this year and our singers were delighted with the maestros chosen to direct them.
Montserrat Abbey, the Monastary of the Valldonzella, Park Güell, the Crypt of the Sagrada Familia, the Monastary of Sant Pere de les Puel·les and The Atrium Theatre of Viladecans were the perfect venues for a week of the finest music.

We ended our year in Montevideo, Uruguay with a very successful workshop for musicians and singers under the musical direction of Josep Prats who was also able to work with the National Choir SODRE. The subject matter – the excellent London version of Brahms' German Requiem.
With overflowing energy we await the new challenges of 2017; in May, our Junior and Senior Festivals in Tenerife (Canary Islands), in July, the 11th World Symposium on Choral Music in Barcelona, and for the first time our newest festival, this time in the Argentinian city of Cordoba the first week of September.
In October, we will be back once again to host Corearte Barcelona, and in November, Corearte Brazil.
We are already planning lots of exciting new projects, selecting first-class maestros for our workshops, and investigating some interesting new venues. Everything we could possibly want for a successful year ahead.
Look forward to seeing you in Corearte 2017.
